About us

Our History

Who we cater to

Who we cater to

ASH - Autistic Social Hub - is a new charity in Aberdeen, but one that came about because of autistic voices - A previous charity in Aberdeen (Autism Awareness Association) had largely ceased to operate, with groups being kept on in life support. This charity was one of the oldest Autistic Led organisations in Scotland, and we heard from those who had used its services that there was a need for a return to a formal organisation providing a place for low support needs autistic people.

Who we cater to

Our groups and support and designed for autistic (including Aspergers) adults who are 18 and over with low support needs. While most of our members are in their twenties, there's no upper limit!

This is sometimes referred to as "Level 1" autism in diagnosis. However, since 'Level 2' (some care required) autism is very broad, we also may be an appropriate service depending on an individual's needs, but we are not focused on this group.

Current Staff

Alastair meek

Alastair has worked with autistic people for over 20 years, both as a volunteer and as a professional. This includes working with autistic students, time spent in a MICAS base, and assisting with autistic issues while working at a SEN school, and then spent a decade working for Autism Awareness Association before leaving to return to university.

He studied psychology formally ,and achieved his degree in 2025, with a thesis in Autistic Mental Health experiences). While he is currently working towards his postgrad in Pluralistic Counselling, he agreed to join ASH to continue providing facilitation for autistic social groups.

He's a roleplayer - beginning with AD+D in the 90s, before moving on the White Wolf systems and currently primarily running his own Storyteller system hack named 'Beginnings Crusade), wargamer, and anime watcher. He's kind of a geek, and will happily discuss psychology, history, philosophy, or gaming with you.
