Please reach out to us via our contact form if you cannot find the answer to your question.
All groups are free to attend and there is no cost for membership.
As a charity, we are able to accept donations, but this is not a requirement.
We will keep everyone updated via the Discord about what groups are running. The times for groups are listed on the main page, and we'll talk about them during the introductory meeting - please be aware that we have no 'drop in' groups at the moment. You must have had your introductory meeting before attending a group
It's important that everyone in the room is autistic, so no - you would not be able to bring a non-member friend or a parent with you to groups. However, we do know that coming to new places can be concerning. As such, while they could not be in the group itself, we have had parents/guardians/friends come along in support and wait elsewhere during the first few groups people attend.
In addition, if you'd like to being someone with you for the introductory meeting, we actively encourage that!
All groups are overseen by PVG-checked autistic staff members or volunteers.
The activities at each group varies depending on the interests of the members, but generally activities include: video gaming, board games, table top games, socialising, arts & crafts and chilling out time.
We understand that the process of getting a formal diagnosis can be challenging, and therefore we are happy to welcome members who are self diagnosed.
Yes. We have some sensory items distributed throughout the building, and you are absolutely encouraged to stim as needed. However, if you are likely to need large-movement stims or stims that might seem distressing to others, please let us know during the intro meeting.
We'd love to be able to say 'yes' automatically, but we are limited by the physical reality of the building. If you are concerned about sensory issues affecting your ability to attend, please let us know either by asking by email or during the introductory meeting.
Generally no. There are some groups we've had in the past where there's a higher expectation, and the Warhammer group operates with 'If you say you'll regularly attend, we kind of need you to', but for most groups it's perfectly fine to attend when you feel you can.
There's a few options here. Firstly, there's a small quiet room that we'll show you during your intro meeting, and there's lots of space in our wing and the building you can go to if you need to do so. You can obviously also talk to a staff member or volunteer and we'll see how we can help.
In addition, there's no problems at all with you talking a walk around the building - there's lots of green space nearby, and occasionally deer. Similarly, you aren't required to stay for the entire duration if you do not want to. However, if you are leaving the building, we do ask that you let a staff member know - this is a fire safety issue.
This is not a problem for you attending. We have whiteboards if needed, and we are more than happy to learn whatever tools you use to communicate.
We'll talk about this during the introductory meetings, but to summarise - that depends a bit on what you want. We'll ask what you want us to do if you have meltdown, and we'll do our best to ensure that occurs, as long as it doesn't conflict with keeping people safe.
Of course. In fact, we'd be happy to discuss that with you.
