In and around Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire there aren't enough services to provide support and a safe space for people on the spectrum. ASH-A provides a safe space to interact and get support.
ASH-A helps to connect people on the spectrum and their loved ones to a welcoming space where they can meet, socialise, and build community with neurodivergent people and others who understand their experiences.
Loneliness amongst adults with autism is very high. It is hard to find connections and make friends, or just interact with people. Our groups and hub are designed to challenge that loneliness and give an opportunity to connect.
Confidence can be hard to build when you're autistic, and many people aren't sure how to start building it. Our hub offers a safe, welcoming space to grow in confidence by connecting with others and engaging in hobbies and special interests.
There are still many myths and misunderstandings about autism. We aim to offer information and education about ASD to parents, schools, organisations, and others in the wider autistic community.
Whether you want to be a member and join, look for information or resources, volunteer for our organisation, or simply raise community awareness about ASD, the Autistic Social Hub Aberdeen is the place for you!
The groups and activities that are currently offered by ASH-A are centered around the members. Our groups are user-led, meaning that we aim to meet the needs, hobbies and interests of our members.
On Tuesday nights we host our general/videogaming group. This group provides a casual area for members to meet, socialise and game together.
These groups are examples of the types of activities we have offered in the past, and demonstrate the variety of groups we may be able to offer in the future.
